# Authenticity and quality

Are The Oud Bank products authentic?   Yes. The Oud Bank is built on authenticity, quality, and trust. We select our products carefully according to The Oud Bank standards before they are offered for sale

 How can I be sure the oud I buy is authentic?

Natural oud naturally differs from one piece to another in colour, formation, resin density, and scent. The Oud Bank selects its products from trusted sources and examines them according to our approved quality standards.

Where does The Oud Bank oud come from?

Our collection includes types from different origins known for oud, including India, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and others. The origin can be found in the product description when this information is listed on the product page.

Are all types of oud the same?

No. Oud differs by origin, tree, degree of resin saturation, and other natural factors. Each type therefore has its own aromatic character.

Why does the piece I received look different from the photo?

Because oud is a natural product, the shape, colour, size, and resin distribution of a piece may differ from the photos shown. The photos represent the nature of the product. They are not necessarily the exact piece the customer will receive, unless stated otherwise.

Does a darker colour always mean the oud is better?

Not necessarily. Colour alone is not enough to judge the quality of oud. Other factors include origin, the type of wood, the degree of resin saturation, and the scent when it is burned.

Is heavier oud always better?

Not necessarily. Weight and density are characteristics that can be taken into account, but the quality of oud and its aromatic experience cannot be reduced to weight alone.

Why does the price of one type of oud differ from another?

The value of oud is affected by several factors, including origin, rarity, quality, degree of resin saturation, scent characteristics, and how available the type is.


 Oud Oil #

Is The Oud Bank oud oil pure?  Oud oils are selected carefully according to The Oud Bank standards of quality and authenticity before they are offered for sale.
Why does the colour of oud oil differ from one type to another? The colour, viscosity, and scent of oud oils may differ according to the raw material, origin, method of production, age, and other factors.
Does a stronger scent mean the oud oil is better? Not necessarily. Some oud oils are distinguished by a strong presence, while others are distinguished by softness, gradual development, and how they evolve on the skin. The choice also depends on personal taste.
Why does the scent of oud oil change after it is applied to the skin? The scent develops over time and reacts to the warmth and nature of the skin, so the experience may differ slightly from one person to another.
Can the scent of the oil differ from one batch to another? Limited natural differences may exist between batches, especially in products derived from natural materials.
How should I store oud oil? We recommend keeping it tightly closed, away from direct sunlight, high heat, and large changes in temperature.

Does oud oil become better with age? 

 Some oud oils may develop with proper storage over time. This varies according to the oil, how it was produced, and how it is stored.


# Choosing the right oud

I am new to oud. Where should I start?  Start by deciding the kind of experience you are looking for: quiet, woody, warm, deep, smoky, or of a different character. The Oud Bank team can help you narrow the options.
How do I choose the oud that suits my taste? You can rely on the scent description, origin, and product characteristics on its page, or contact us and describe the scents you prefer so we can help you choose.
I want an oud for daily use. What should I choose?

The options differ according to taste, budget, and how you will use it. Tell our team the type of use you want, and we will help you choose suitable options.
I want an oud for occasions and guests. Can you help? Yes. The Oud Bank team can suggest products that suit the occasion, the budget, and the aromatic preferences.
Does the most expensive always mean the best?  Not necessarily. Price may reflect rarity, origin, quality, and other characteristics, but the best choice for you is the product that suits your taste and use.
Can I buy a small quantity to try? This depends on the sizes and quantities available for each product. The available options are shown on the product page.


# Using oud

What is the best way to burn oud?  The experience depends on the type of oud and the heating method. In general, controlling the heat helps you enjoy the development of the scent and avoids burning the wood too quickly.
Is charcoal or an electric burner better? Each method gives a different experience. Charcoal offers the traditional burning experience, while an electric burner provides a different level of heat control and, in some uses, greater ease.
Why did my piece of oud burn quickly and not release the scent I expected? The heat may have been too high, or the size of the piece may not have been suitable. Good oud does not necessarily need intense heat to show its aromatic character.
Should I place a large piece of oud on the charcoal? It is not necessary. You can start with a small suitable piece, then increase the quantity according to the space and the strength of scent required.
Can oud be used to scent clothes? Oud is traditionally used to scent a place and clothes. Safety must be observed, and clothes and fabrics must be kept away from the heat source or direct flame.


# Orders and shipping within Oman

Is shipping free within the Sultanate of Oman?  Shipping within the Sultanate of Oman is free for orders exceeding OMR 35. Orders of OMR 35 or less are subject to the delivery fee shown at checkout.
When will my order be prepared? Orders are prepared according to the processing times stated in the shipping policy. Delivery time varies according to the address and the delivery service.
How do I know the status of my order? When tracking information is available for the order, it can be used to follow the shipment according to the shipping company used.
Can I change the delivery address after placing the order? Contact us as soon as possible. If the order has not yet been prepared or handed to the shipping company, we will try to help you update the details when this is possible.

 

# International shipping

Does The Oud Bank ship internationally?  Yes. We provide international shipping to the destinations available within the shipping options in the store.
How much does international shipping cost? There is no fixed cost for international shipping. The cost is calculated based on the weight of the shipment, its size, and the delivery address and destination. The applicable cost is shown at checkout.
Why does the shipping cost differ from one order to another?  Because the cost is affected by the weight of the products, the size of the parcel, the country, the delivery address, and the service available for the destination.
When do I know the final shipping price? After you enter the delivery address and complete the order details, the available shipping cost appears before payment is completed.
How long does international shipping take? The time varies according to the country, destination, shipping company, and customs clearance procedures.
Might I have to pay customs charges when the order arrives? The destination country may impose taxes, customs charges, or import fees under its local laws. These charges may be separate from the order value and the shipping cost, unless stated otherwise at checkout.
Can my order be delayed in customs? Yes. International shipments may be subject to customs procedures that differ from one country to another. These procedures may be outside the control of The Oud Bank and the shipping company.
What happens if I enter an incorrect address? Delivery details and the address must be checked before the order is completed. An incorrect or incomplete address may delay the shipment or create additional costs.

 

# Exchanges and returns

Can I return or exchange a product?  A request for exchange or return can be submitted within 15 days of the date the product is received, according to the conditions in the exchange and return policy.
Can a product be returned after it has been opened?  Used or opened products, or products from which a seal or security packaging has been removed, may not be eligible for return or exchange under the store policy.
Can oud oil be returned after it has been tried? If the product has been opened or used, it is subject to the restrictions and exceptions in the exchange and return policy.
Can a blend made specifically for me be returned? Special products and blends made to the customer’s order cannot be exchanged or returned under the approved policy.
I received a damaged product. What should I do? Contact the customer service team as soon as possible with the order number, details of the case, and suitable photos. It will be assessed according to the exchange and return policy.
I received a product different from the one I ordered. What should I do? Contact us with the order number and details of the product received. The team will review the case and handle it according to the approved policy.
When is the amount refunded? After the returned product is received, inspected, and the return is approved, the amount is processed according to the payment method and the approved policy. The time it takes to appear may differ according to the bank or payment provider.

 

# Payment and privacy

What payment methods are available?  The payment methods available to the customer appear at checkout. The options may differ according to the market or country.
Are my payment details secure? Payments are processed through approved payment systems and service providers. The Oud Bank does not store credit-card details, in accordance with the published privacy policy.
In which currency will I pay? The currency displayed and the payment options depend on the store settings and the market available to the customer. Check the final amount and currency shown before confirming payment.

 

# Gifts and special orders

Can my order be sent as a gift?  Gift wrapping or gift options can be used when this service is available for the product or the order.
Can a message be added with the gift? When a message or note service is available during the order, you can add the required details, or contact our team before the order is prepared.
Do you provide corporate gifts? Companies may contact us to discuss gift orders, quantities, and customization according to the needs of the project and what is possible.
Can orders be prepared for occasions and weddings? You can contact our team to discuss the occasion, quantity, budget, and the time required. The available options will then be confirmed.

 

# Wholesale and export

Does The Oud Bank offer wholesale?  Yes. We receive enquiries related to commercial quantities, wholesale, supply, and export.
Do you deal with companies outside the Sultanate of Oman? Yes. International trade customers may contact us regarding supply and export opportunities.
Are wholesale prices the same as the website prices? Trade prices may differ according to the product, quantity, nature of the order, and supply terms.
I want to become a distributor for The Oud Bank. Is this possible? A trade request can be sent including the country, market, nature of the business, experience, and sales channels. The request will be assessed by the relevant team.
Can I order large quantities of a specific type of oud? This depends on product availability and the quantity requested. Some natural and rare types of oud may be available only in limited quantities

 

# Questions beyond the usual

I bought the same oud before. Why is the new batch not exactly the same?  Because oud is a natural material, not an identical manufactured product. Differences may appear between batches and pieces in shape, colour, saturation, and some details of the scent.
Why does the piece not look as beautiful as the photo, while its scent is excellent? Appearance is not the only measure of the value of oud. In natural products, the aromatic characteristics may be more important than the outer appearance of the piece.
Can the quality of oud be known from a photo alone? A photo may help in understanding the appearance of the product, but it does not convey the scent and is not enough on its own to assess all the characteristics of oud.
Is oud sinking in water conclusive proof that it is authentic? No single test should be relied on to judge the authenticity or quality of oud. The density of the wood and the amount of resin are among several factors.
Does thick smoke mean the oud is better? Not necessarily. The amount of smoke alone is not a sufficient measure of quality. What matters more is the nature of the scent, how it develops, and the characteristics of the wood itself.
Why does oud smell different in the shop from how it smells at home? The size of the place, ventilation, temperature, the burning method, and other scents in the place can affect how the scent is perceived.
Why did my friend like this oud when I did not? Scent is a highly personal experience. What one person finds woody and deep, another may find strong or different from their taste.
Is there one scent that is considered “the best oud”? There is no single scent that suits everyone. Preference differs according to taste, method of use, origin, and the aromatic character a person is looking for.
Is old oud always better than new oud? Age may be an important factor in some types of oud and oud oils, but it is not the only factor that determines quality or value.
Why are some types of oud very expensive? Natural oud is a limited resource. Its value can be affected by rarity, origin, quality, the amount of resin, aromatic characteristics, and how available the type is.
I want to buy oud for someone and I do not know their taste. What should I do? Tell our team the occasion, the budget, and any information you know about the person’s preferences. We will help you narrow the options without assuming their taste.
I have an old piece of oud and I do not know its type. Can The Oud Bank identify it? Our team can review the available information and help as far as possible. Identifying the origin, age, or authenticity with certainty may not be possible from photos or a description alone.
Can I invest in oud and keep it for years?  Some types of oud are rare and limited. The Oud Bank sells its products for ownership and use. It does not guarantee that their value will rise in the future, and it does not treat the products as a guaranteed financial investment.
Is natural oud an unlimited resource? No. Natural oud is a precious and limited resource. Responsible selection of sources, and a considered approach to it, are an important part of oud culture.
Why is every type of oud not always available? Because some types and origins are available only in limited quantities. Continued availability of the same type, or the same quality, cannot be guaranteed permanently.
Can a rare oud be reserved before the quantity runs out? If a reservation method is available for a particular product, it will be stated on the product page or through the customer service team. Availability is not guaranteed until the order is confirmed.
If a type I like sells out, will it come back? The product may return if a suitable quantity that meets our standards becomes available. The nature and rarity of oud mean that supplying the same type again is not always guaranteed.
Can I ask you to look for a specific type of oud for me? You can send details of the type, origin, or characteristics you are looking for. Our team will review the request according to what is possible and what is available.
